Review on Dell SE2719H: Backlit 1080p Monitor with Tilt, Blue Light Filter, and Anti-Glare HD Display by Steve Schlueter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good monitor, overclocked to 75Hz.

This is a budget 1080p IPS monitor from Dell, so you pretty much know what you're getting. I was able to get it up to 75Hz and it seems to be handling it well. The OSD image shows that the monitor runs at 75 Hz. Response time seems okay at higher frame rates. There is an option to speed up the response time in the OSD, but I think I prefer the normal option to the fast one. From 10 seconds, hovering over the "fast" option looked too blurry. Didn't test too much with games but everything looked fine after enabling V-Sync, tearing was pretty bad without it. I set the sharpness to 0, everything else seemed too sharp to me. The OSD has handy on-screen guides that show you where the buttons are and help you navigate the menus. Personally I'm used to a VA panel so colors don't look as saturated, but the downside of these monitors is slow response times which can make text/objects look "smeared" when scrolling/moving, so there's better reasons for that an IPS panel. 1080 pixel density 27 "panel" means everything looks a bit pixelated at my viewing distance of about 30 inches, the optimal viewing distance at an assumed 20/20 view for this display is about 40 inches. It was my fault for not measuring the normal viewing distance and then choosing a resolution. I might end up returning this and get a 1440p VA panel, but for the extra display, it might not be worth the extra price. I think that's a great deal for the price. They usually range from $150 to $60, but I bought mine for $129.99. So by tracking the price and buying when it's on sale, you can save some money. Summary: Pros + Decent IPS panel + Can be overclocked to 75Hz + Cheap + Good OSD + Thin bezels Cons - Cheap stand with no height adjustment - No VESA mount so you get stuck on the stand - HDMI and VGA only, no DP Large panel 1080p so may not be suitable for people sitting close to their desk
