Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Fixed Lens - Discontinued by Manufacturer by Adisorn Khamkon ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It was a bad idea to buy it, the money was wasted.

Similar analogues are much more expensive. I bought it because of the low price. For a fast lens, the price is extremely low. I give two stars for the price and sharpness. The first impression, after the standard 18-55 - fantastic sharpness! Portraits taken with the lens look very good. Plus, I realized what a high aperture is for a lens - it became much easier to shoot in dark rooms. After a couple of months of shooting came sobering. The lens works out its price, but no more. All the advantages of this lens are negated by the disadvantages, but alas, there are more of them. The most important and unforgivable drawback is the disgusting focus. Both tested lenses smeared more than 50% of the shots when focusing. At the same time, in addition to the standard buzzing, a wild amount of noise is emitted: strumming of the structure when hovering, knocking when reaching the focus limits. The second important point: the lens is disposable. The design has been reduced to a minimum. The plastic mount does not allow for any periodic lens change. Traces of abrasions are visible almost immediately. (And a change is needed! The increase is big) Finally - the lens is a terrible vacuum cleaner! But there is no way to clean it. If you do not plan to shoot for more than a year - feel free to take two. You will be 100% satisfied with your purchase. If you are looking for a lens immediately and for a long time - no need to spend money.

Pros
  • - Low price. - Good sharpness. - Autofocus.
Cons
  • - Autofocus misses too often - Dust gets into the lens. - Plastic bayonet. - Low reliability of a design. - Noisy focusing.
