Since there is practically no gap between the spring and the shock absorber, this was really the only compressor that worked without a scratch shock on the body, hardly. It will still scratch if you don't tighten them evenly. I've found that lubricating the threaded rod reduces the chance of the sliders getting stuck, as the instructions say. In addition, as described in the instructions, the sliders can be opened by tapping lightly with a hammer without binding. Nut and rod end are far from 1 inch apart. I found the nut fits 26mm and the stem head fits 1 1/16".. So dumb I had to go out and buy those custom wrenches and sockets which cost a lot. A bit odd but I think it works for my application, and yet it's better than going to the local shop, which in my area is mostly incompetent.
