Review on HFS TYPE V BLOCK CLAMP SET by Seth Damain

Poor Quality

I know that when you buy cheap things you get what you pay for, but I didn't realize they were of such poor quality. The blocks themselves are fine, the fit is in line with the price. But the clips that come with it are terrible. One of them didn't even fit under the block. (see photo) I clamped it in a vise to shape it so it could hold on to the block. As I did so, I wondered if I would tighten or loosen it. But this thought was short lived as this was my first time using it I went to carve a flat piece on an aluminum stock and the milling end knocked the work piece out of the V channel immediately. I looked to see what was happening and the screw was bending from the stress. Aluminum (see picture). They still work for me when I use them from the side and press the product against the vise jaws. But as for the clamp, after what happened, I wouldn't trust him to be holding Delrin. I know the old adage "buy it well or buy it twice", but figured I could get away with it on a V-Block where accuracy is more important. It wasn't a priority for my work, I never thought that the clamp and screw would be an Achilles heel. Lesson learned.
