I buy them for myself and my father. In my case, my condition causes me to have severe nausea where I may not be able to get up or eat solid food for days, leading to my hospitalization for malnutrition and severe dehydration. One of the great RNs suggested I try them out as a temporary fix (flare episode) so I don't get so jaded. I've been using it ever since! As a disclaimer, I am not a medical professional and my opinion is based on my experience with Boost. On the other hand, my dad wakes up so hungry that I barely have time to cook him something before he turns into a bear! These calm him down! The problem is that he continued to eat a full breakfast, adding calories on top of what he considered "breakfast." For myself I bought the regular version but have since switched to Calorie Smart to control my weight. He hasn't complained about the lighter version, other than saying he can't drink these so they don't get cold!
