Review on Zoo Med Repticare Rock Heater 26251 - Standard Heating Solution for Reptiles in Blacks & Grays by Jaclyn King

I know warm stones have a bad reputation in the reptile community but I have never had a problem with this brand. In the past rocks with reptiles were quite dangerous. When I was a kid 20 years ago they would cause burns or even electrocution (which I learned the hard way after touching one). After that I became suspicious of them and read horrible things about their dangerousness, but a lot has changed since then, so I decided to give them another chance. I bought this device with high expectations after reading the reviews and I was rewarded. My lizards love it! I have a very large phone booth sized cage that houses two water dragons, but due to its height, not enough heat reaches the bottom where most of the moisture is. My cage is wood on three sides, with a mesh door in the front, so I wasn't comfortable using an under-tank heater or band heater. This stone heater was my last hope, and it proved worthy of both me and my reptiles. It doesn't get too hot, but warm enough for them to digest their food, it keeps a constant temperature and won't fail if it gets a little wet from wet lizards lounging on it. This way they can go swimming and have to walk a short distance to warm up instead of climbing 5 feet to the highest shelf in the cage. All in all if you like it then I like it we are very happy with this purchase.
