Adhesive lasts up to 24 hours. I ended up giving up cheap sticky pads and used 3M sticky pads to make them work. The slats themselves are quite brittle, so if you have curtains of any weight, they will fall apart under the weight. Not the best, but I made it. I didn't want to screw into the wood of my French doors, so the hooks that come with the kit (screw-in option) might work better, but I can't comment on that. No instructions so I turned the bottom sticky pads upside down without thinking that this should be a specific direction to work. Was able to fix it. It wasn't a terrible product to work with, but it's pretty cheaply made.
