First of all I definitely have more than 10 balls in my backpack and yes they are quite small but they are worth it. depending on the price. I bought them for only $10 and was shocked to see they are now $18 as that seems like a pretty steep price to me. To be honest they really work. I won't lie, I love my Betta Walker, I really do, but I HATE tank cleaning and can be pretty lazy about it. just to be extra careful) put about 4-5 of these in my 3 gallon filter tank. I also have 1 adult blue sheep and a pair of baby blues (yes avid aquarist, I am aware of snail parameter requirements and will handle snails but leave them while they are small and cannot increase bioburden as much ) that have been present since they appeared, apparently the snails really help in the fight against algae, so that's where they do their job, but these orbs shouldn't clean them anyway. However, I have not done a manual cleaning or even a partial water change since the reservoir upgrade, although I have added chicken treated water about 3 times due to evaporation. BUT I test my water more often and even tested it this morning and it was PERFECT. actually happened every time. My water is crystal clear, the gravel isn't polluted, germ contamination obviously wasn't an issue, and algae production is incredibly low, next to nonexistent (and I know this because I have to supplement my snails with algae plates almost twice a week). These ideal parameters, which keep my tails and bucks in the best of health and a perfect aquarium, are certainly also thanks to these tourmaline balls (by the way, snails like to suck on them too). But it should be noted that I also use Catappa (Betta) leaves and Calcium Miracle Shells and I also have two large Marimo Balls and an Amazon Sword Plant in my aquarium, each of these items has its own benefits and together play a part in creating this perfectly balanced underwater ecosystem.
