So after some searching I settled on this one to replace a 15 year old Hampton Bay remote and receiver that was bugging me. Yes, I'm only guilty for looking at the description so it's 100% my fault for not reading that this one does NOT dim the light. I replaced my Hampton Bay unit easily enough and the new one works as expected (after re-reading the description). That's why I only gave it 4 stars: 1: The receiver CAN dim the light, I tuned my old remote control to the same frequency and it dimmed the light just fine. I have no idea why they didn't have the same new remote job. (3 stars on the remote control) 2: According to the description, the product uses a thyristor instead of a relay. Thyristors are solid state devices and do not "click" when energized. I can still hear the "click" of the relay in the receiver, so I'm not sure what's wrong. All in all I would recommend the receiver, it works great with my old remote control. If it stops working I'll try to update it, but everything is fine now. I will save the "new" remote control for backup.
