difficult conditions. Actual size details below.

I bought the backlit version: For some reason the size of the very sturdy base plate is wrong in the product description and photos (as of 21st July), you can easily see the dimensions and proportions are different. The actual size of the baseplate is exactly 6"X9". A very good size for soldering circuit boards, wires etc. It's thick black powder coated metal, not stainless steel as the description says, and the magnetic feet stick to it fairly well. Some reviewers have complained that the clamps have a hollow core and are difficult to tighten. Well, take an 8 or 10 AWG wire - solder it to the terminal. then trim it flush at the end. Then you have a strong main clamp that you can tighten as much as needed without damaging it. FWIW - the light is really good with a good quality lens, spend a few bucks more now, not much in the future to buy one separately.
