A jumper is needed if you only use it for a 6-pin power supply

Received this power supply quickly and in perfect condition. The device is also unusually quiet after switching on. I bought a 460 BP to power two graphics cards mounted on PCIe riser cards with 6-pin power connectors. However, this PSU would not turn on when connected to the main PSU and PCIe cards. Apparently the PS needs to be plugged into the motherboard for it to turn on. Therefore, in order to turn on the power supply and power the 6-pin power connectors, a jumper from pin 16 (PS-ON) to pin 17 (GND) on the 20-pin power connector was required. Since I don't particularly care about using the paperclip indefinitely, I just ordered the EVGA PSU Detection Tool, which cost me an additional $7. Too bad EVGA didn't include this tool with my purchase at all. Still, I rate this product 5 stars because it's a quality and stable power supply at an affordable price, and I'm satisfied after clearing my initial confusion.

Pros
  • Trial period for one year
Cons
  • Basically ok, but...
