I first bought a $100 Blue Compass which is used quite often for podcasts and radio. It's a nice, shapely hand, but for some reason I just couldn't get it right. I think it was because the mic screws in the mount didn't have enough rotation/angle adjustment. I bought this hand expecting the worst and was very surprised. It's a very hard mode and seems to be durable. He had absolutely no problem holding my heavy Rode NT2-A microphone. I was able to set it up perfectly and I can even put it out of the way when not in use. Pulling it back to me when it's ready to go again doesn't feel like a chore compared to the Blue Compass. If you're proficient at soldering, you can even route the mic cable through the pipe for a neater look!
