I needed a gate that I could place at the bottom of the stairs for easy access through a high traffic area and this looked like it would do did the job and it seemed sturdy/well done. Well, it's not worth the money: First, the locking mechanism broke, probably within the first week or so, so I just started manually pushing in and out the plunger that locks the door (imagine this to do every time you come over). Well this task is harder now because the bolt is falling apart and I have to pull the bolt up to get the piston flush with the bore. what a mess! I wish I had the gate again. Overall, this is a very fragile gate and can easily be knocked down by a medium sized dog. I actually had to secure one of the ends with a heavy object to keep the gate from falling. not worth it, save your money and buy something else
