It says it has a mesh pocket for coins but it's actually the perfect size for a cell phone so I'll be using it. In my picture, I'm pointing to an iPhone 8 in a somewhat bulky case. My Pixel 3 fits well too, but I'm not sure about XL phones. Haven't worn hiking shorts before so I have to repeat this review but at first glance the fabric is very light. , very elastic. As another review says, if you tuck your shirt in you'll probably look like an idiot (I've tried and it was pretty unflattering on me) but I never tuck shirts in so that's fine. Also, the elasticated ruching at the back was a bit itchy on my skin, so I was able to tuck the tank top under my shirt to keep it from chafing. Hope it gets better after washing.
