Two things that "annoy" me about horsefly spray in general: (1) I can use up a liter bottle pretty quickly and end the season I spent a small fortune on insecticides alone, with many empty containers, and (2) I hate the thought of spraying toxic chemicals on my horses, especially as I sometimes feel the spray blowing on me, or I can smell it ( when I feel its scent, I inhale it). However, because this product was a concentrate, I was able to make a huge batch in a 1 gallon sprayer that should last a long time, with more concentrate going into another batch. Because it's made from plant-based ingredients and does NOT smell like toxic chemicals, I don't mind using it. Obviously it's still a toxin, but I'd prefer an herbal over a chemical given the choice. This works very well; My color has white socks and the flies like to congregate in those areas but the Naturvet spray keeps them away all day. I have to reapply every day, but I'd rather do that than use those oily, carcinogenic products that stay on the skin for up to a week. I use other methods at the same time to prevent flies from reproducing and kill adult flies so combined with this horse spray I don't have to worry about flies.
