Review on Efficient Surface Rabbeting with Amana Tool's Flycutter by Mike Wallace

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It is more profitable to break in these bits and replace the blades

I use them to level large panels and often fill in gaps with epoxy. I burn a lot of bits this way. It's more cost effective to run those bits and swap out the blades. Changing the blades is pretty easy - you have to put them in a vise to remove them without cutting, but they snap to the side very well. My only complaint is that you have to back out the screw completely before turning it to the new side. Because of this, sometimes it pops out and falls down, and I lose track of which way I turned. I've found it's best to mark the old page with a black marker to prevent this from happening in the future. not cheap - a full set of 4 is about $16 but you get 4 pages. I blew out a bit on the 4th side and it caused the bit to dig about 1/8" into my plate which caused me to have to make another pass. Unsatisfied. but if it hits a little it digs into your work piece and the screws can be longer for me to loosen and twist in place.

Pros
  • Power tool spare parts and accessories
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.
