My old cylinder was shorter than the form factor and leaking. During the day my chair dropped to an undesirable height. I chose a larger cylinder for my home chair/desk work and it served two purposes: 1) a larger chair (without lifting the cylinder) and 2) being able to raise the chair much higher if needed. Of course, this is all personal preference. As for the product, it works great! No leaks, no problems. The chrome finish goes perfectly with my chair! Installation: YouTube has a video on replacing the cylinder! A pipe wrench, a rubber mallet and a little force are enough to ensure that the chair is not damaged during removal and installation.
