I recently tried using my 40 inch TV as a monitor and it was horrible. While the image was larger and had some advantages, it lacked resolution, pixel density and also the number of colors. Also, it was actually too big, like having a front row seat to a movie. If you're eyeing your big screen TV and wondering how well it will perform as a monitor, don't try it. It is only suitable for playing videos on computer. I wanted a proper monitor, but I needed a larger monitor than my original monitor. So once again I shopped at Revain. I chose this because of the size and resolution. So many monitors max out at 1080p these days. I remember my monitors going above this level in the early 2000s. At least I think so. Well, 2560 x 1440 is just what the doctor ordered. It's not just a gaming monitor. This is a higher resolution animator monitor. Acres and acres of screen space, so I no longer need two monitors. I love it. It's about to get too big. The appearance of the monitor is of good quality. That is serious. After a year with an ONN monitor that I didn't really like due to the lack of contrast and a second Dell monitor that was a little smaller, older and dying, I'm finally back to the quality. It's almost intimidating because my animations look so much better now and I hope the end product will look just as good to the people who see my work. The reason I use two monitors at work and at home is that there is not enough space on one screen for all my activities. instruments. Enlarging the monitor does not usually help as only a limited amount of information can fit on the screen. But in this case, the screen is bigger AND the resolution is higher, so you can actually fit more information on the screen. I don't need two monitors anymore! I have two working monitors and this huge Dell monitor. Well, to be honest, there wasn't room on my desk for a second personal monitor anyway. I've only included a screenshot to impress you with the amount of information that can be squeezed onto the screen. On a 1080p monitor and possibly a smaller 1440p monitor, the screenshot looks crowded, but it's quite comfortable now. I usually always hide the timeline below because it takes up too much space and I need to make the viewport bigger. Everything is comfortable here, and my old eyes can easily see all the information. I've also found that I don't use full screen mode on YouTube that much, but I'll probably switch to dark mode at some point. 'Cause all that white can be blinding This is a light monitor and this is a dark monitor. The contrast is excellent. I would buy this monitor again in a heartbeat. I almost talked my daughter into buying a replacement which I would send back but she just doesn't have room for it until she moves out. Speaking of replacements, I got off to a rough start. This says nothing about the quality control of the devices themselves. The original monitor was just left in my driveway by the USPS just minutes before the shady guy came to buy my car. If the neighbor's dog hadn't barked, I wouldn't have gone out to check out the box... only ten feet from an unused doorbell. I'm NOT the customer who calls tech support because I forgot to plug in the device. I swear I'm not that guy! The first monitor came with no instructions and I couldn't turn it on. I checked cables and splitters. Revain just gave the general advice for idiots to plug in a monitor and (gasp) make sure it's turned on. And more importantly, it was inside the box upside down. Memory! That's my alibi. A simple user manual or quick start guide would show me the almost invisible power button in the bottom right corner. And now that I think about it, on my two newest TVs that power button is in the same place, out of sight, although there is a RED LED to let you know the button is there. The red light turns off when the TV is on. This monitor does not have such a backlit power button. It only lights up when it's on, not off. But all I had was a warranty card and the power button was almost hidden underneath. I've tried every permutation of the distinctive unlabeled buttons on the back, and nothing. I thought the first monitor was dead and asked for a replacement. A replacement arrived and when I pulled it out of the box, properly wrapped, I just happened to see a faded gray power button! It was literally the FIRST THING I SAW! The replacement came with wordless, monolingual, hieroglyphic, wordless setup instructions, which the first lacked, which also had a legend for the power button. My heart sank. I went back and checked the original. There was a power switch! It worked all along. There was nothing wrong with that. The last character showed a floppy disk, a hardback book, a web page, and a down arrow. I contacted Indiana Jones and he told me that this cryptic message meant downloading the user manual from dell.com/s2722dgm for more information. Dell spent a lot of money to package this monitor more than adequately. A whole tree died to supply it. It came with an extra HDMI cable, which was nice. I'd maybe trade in the shiny box I'm about to throw out for another piece of 8.5 x 11 paper to take me to work. There was also enough free space on the outside of the box for all the information I needed. Just a picture of the power button because looking at the back of the monitor the joystick button suggests it MUST be the power button. Poor packaging eventually cost Dell and Revain. I wish I had gone ahead and googled the online manual but I was so depressed it didn't work that I just waited for a replacement. But the next trouble is all my fault. I thought the replacement was defective. I could not plug HDMI into HDMI 1. The problem was my alignment. I turned my head, looked and then straightened up, my mind spinning left and right and trying to plug into the display port and not the HDMI port. I used HDMI 2 and liked it. So when I sent back the perfect replacement I mentioned HDMI 1 was damaged which is not the case. Some guy from Revane's returns department is gonna call me an idiot. One had to be sent back so wasn't a problem. But overall I like this monitor. I'm spoiled by it and don't want to go back to regular monitors. You can't call it a gaming monitor. This is a workstation monitor. Love to the death.
