These wire strippers have rounded flutes that do a good job of cutting soft versions (PVC) of insulated wrapped wire; This happens to be the cheapest wire and half the price of the Kynar insulated versions. Other wire strippers have V-grooves and don't work well with smaller diameter wires compared to round holes. I really need to get close to the 30 AG hole so I cut off the nose with pliers. So the 30 AWG groove is right on the nose and now you can get into tight spots: like making jumpers on the board on those stupid (1.27mm centerline) circuits. So next you need to drill and cut a hole to insert a screw that will serve as a stop: (before mods, nose cheeks served this purpose). Stains and still remove the insulation reliably - every time. To sum it up: 4 sets of modified wire strippers for $4.72 each - such a steal for a tool that helps make tiny jumpers on SOIC prototype boards - for fun!
