Review on 🐦 Perky-Pet 399 Advanced Upside Down Thistle Feeder by Wendy Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I LOVE this bird feeder

I have one hanging outside my office window and spend all day watching beautiful goldfinches eat. It's a great sight when you get 8 or more birds at once. What is really interesting to watch is the multitude of other small birds desperately trying to learn how to eat upside down. It's really a thrill! A distinctive feature of this feeder is that large birds cannot intimidate finches. On the other hand, the device is made of very cheap plastic. The bottom that holds the seeds is some sort of V-shaped (tapered) piece of plastic that isn't strong at all. Some reviewers have mentioned adding a bar under the floor to keep it from falling out. It's a good idea, but I think glue might work too. Another downside is that if you live in a very warm climate like me, the top can crack from the sun. However, he is one of the few feeders of his kind and since he doesn't bother my goldfinches I gave him a high rating. He lost a quality point. Luckily for $10 I didn't lose much money if it eventually broke (and it will). So if you want to enjoy upside down finches and are willing to admit and handle the downsides of this feeder (I buy two at a time), enjoy! However, if these things drive you crazy, find another one. feeder. I also bought a cool three tube finch feeder here. This works very well, but you go through the thistle very quickly. Also, his caps crackle in the sun after the summer, and it costs a lot more. Enjoy! If my review was helpful to you, please click Helpful (or Yes) below. Thank you! :)
