Don't worry about the batteries going bad and ruining your label maker.
The batteries in my old label maker leaked and ruined the machine. We use the label maker several times a month and did not want the hassle of taking the batteries out when not in use. The charger is reasonably priced, easy to use (Plug into wall, plug into label maker) and pays for itself after several sets of alkaline batteries.
