Review on Acer XV282K KVbmiipruzx: The Ultimate 4K FreeSync Backlit Monitor with Agile Splendor by Jerry Stewart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Universal monitor on my review.

First, let me explain my use cases. I mainly use this monitor for coding (8+ hours a day) and a few hours for vaping or casual gaming. So I need a monitor that can display crisp text and some sort of eye protection to reduce eye strain. Most importantly, I can finally unleash my GPU power with a proper 4k monitor. Also, this monitor can charge with 65W USB-C and in DP-ALT mode, which is a performance bonus for my work as I can use one of the monitors to display content on the iPad while charging. After several weeks of everyday life, I can no longer do without it. The vivid color and brightness (with HDR set to "Auto" in the OSD) is perfect for my use. The text is clear and I can program for hours without a headache. Not being a color pro or gamer, I can't comment on color or refresh rate. However, in PC games (recently played Niho) I didn't experience any input lag or ghosting at most default settings. Based on some reviews it says HDMI is set to 2.0 by default and I think there is a reason for that. I found that HDMI had to be set to 2.0 in the OSD in order for my receiver (Onkyo tx-rz800) to display the image on the monitor. I assume Acer tries to include older devices by default? In terms of panel quality, I didn't notice any dead pixels (or maybe a pixel is too small to notice) on either of my monitors. I'm glad I don't have to go through the panel lottery like I used to. If you update the firmware of the monitor, you may find that the new firmware now defaults HDMI to 2.1. I think this is based on a large number of users using this monitor for console gaming. This means that if you receive this monitor with a later factory date, you may receive the monitor with a newer firmware. Overall this is the best monitor I have ever bought and I would highly recommend the XV282k if you have the same use cases as me. . Bravo Asher!
