This disc gauge is just what I needed to accurately mark notches on various woodworking projects without using a pencil. Pencil thickness can vary, as can the accuracy of my cuts. I tested the accuracy of this rim gauge on a variety of steel rulers and it was accurate, absolutely accurate! The entire body is non-ferrous (non-magnetic) metal, and only the small (shirt button-sized) steel cutter is black (magnetic) steel. The body of the tool is calibrated at 6 inches or 15 cm and looks like a laser engraving on the barrel of the tool. It comes with a rotary disc blade for softwoods (pine, etc.) and a non-rotary blade for hardwoods such as maple, ash, etc. It also comes with a stylus and pen holder in case you prefer to use a stylus instead of a metal disc. Complete with detailed instructions on how to use a scoring gauge but not a dovetail. Made in China. It also comes in a beautiful round protective letter box for easy storage.
