As you can see in my photo the purple color is pretty much the same as the product photo. However, the velvety material makes the color look different in every light. In direct light the ottoman looks light purple, but in dim or indirect light it appears deep plum. In any case, I like the color and the seat. I bought it to store toys in my daughter's room. I had her toys in two of those 65 liter clear plastic containers. I was able to fit the contents of both baskets into this large ottoman. I'm not saying it's an accurate measure of capacity, I'm just saying it has a lot of stuff in it. I have mine under the window and it makes a nice makeshift window seat. The only complaint is that I have a hard time moving. The handles on the sides would have made that perfect.
