I use this in my 20 gallon long reef aquarium. I mix 2 grams per gallon, that's 15 by counting the stones in Boyd's material bag, with almost half a cup of Black Diamond Carbon, tie it up with a reusable zip tie and pop it into one of my two AC50s. I change it monthly and my PO4 is always 0.02-0.00, crystal clear water and no algae issues. I compress it during my weekly water changes to ensure a good flow as it never sticks together and I put some filter floss on top to improve contact with the water. It's a lot cheaper to make your own CPE and you don't need the DI resin waste they add since you have to use RO/DI first.
