Review on 🌬️ Fan-Tastic Vent RV Roof Vent Model 3350 - White, Manual and Automatic Speed 12 Volt RV Vent Fan with Thermostat, Smoke Dome RV Vent Cover by Mike Steeg

Most satisfied with this premium RV Rooftop Rain Sensor Extractor Fan.

I bought this after watching some YouTube reviews. I installed it in my Chevy Express camper. It works great so far. When installing I reversed the wires so the auto open and close function didn't work. The connection diagram in the manual is not informative enough. Once I got it working properly, it's been working great so far. But the inner flange hurts. It needs to be trimmed and the screws don't fit to fix it. Imagine the screws of the outdoor unit penetrating the roof of the van. They should (but don't have to) fit into a flange that goes from the inside of the carrier into a recess in the outer mounting block. But there is nothing to hold the flange in place. There are 4 separate screws that should go up into the frame around the 14" cutout from inside the van. My van does not have a frame around the neckline. It was just a 16-gauge Chevy Express tin roof. I suspect this fan is really meant to fit in an RV, which is a standard 14" roof cutout, framed around the opening both inside and out. I ended up using a combination of silicone caulk, HVAC tape, and duct tape to hold the flange in place, and then insulated around it to hold the flange in place as well. Basically I had to MacGyver it. I had the opportunity to test it in the rain. Yes, it detects rain and automatically closes the fan shroud, but when it does, it turns off the fan itself. I think the fan doesn't run at all when the hood is closed. Sometimes it can be a good idea to turn on a fan (such as a ceiling fan) just to circulate air around the room.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Out of style
