If the install is suicidal, hang on to something stronger

The install was hell. Many screws are screwed in and not packed in a separate bag. I don't think it comes pre-assembled. What I mean is that you have to loosen and then retighten most of the screws to install different parts. Now you might be thinking that if you have a bunch of parts to unscrew, the instructions should start with that. However, this would leave you screwing things up while the fan rests comfortably on your desk or floor. It would be too easy. Instead, the instructions wait until you attach the fan to the ceiling and then tell you to start unscrewing everything so you end up on the stairs and working in one of the most uncomfortable and tiring positions. You might also think that the screws would be loose and easy to undo since when they screwed them in they knew they had to be removed during assembly. You would be wrong. Many of the screws were so tight that they partially ripped off the entry holes, and I ripped off some of the screws trying to get them out. The fan consists of several different components that have to be screwed together. First you fasten the electrics, then the body (4 screws), then 5 wings (10 screws), then the bottom (3 screws). You can't turn on the fan until you attach the bottom. Then if, like me, you hear a rattling noise inside the case - it probably means the wire is rubbing against something that shouldn't be there, you'll need to remove the base, then the blades, then the case to close again fiddle with the electrics. You can't turn the fan back on to verify that everything was done correctly without reattaching the case, blades, and then the base. If something is still wrong, rinse and repeat. I have some other slight doubts about the quality of the blades (you can't avoid scratches or cracks during installation) but I understand I got what I paid for in that regard and will probably just replace them.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
