If you use COMCAST as your ISP, DO NOT buy this printer!

This Lexmark printer encountered a problem I've never had before - AFTER purchase and AFTER delivery when we couldn't connect the printer to my internet I started browsing the Lexmark website explore to see what could be problem. It turned out that the Lexmark software had some "problem" with COMCAST (and another ISP whose name I can't remember) as the ISP. You must CALL Lexmark and speak to a technician to receive a software fix. I found out at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening. Lexmark does not provide tech support evenings or weekends! So I'm stuck until Monday and I really NEED this printer. On Monday morning I called tech support on duty and spoke to a gentleman who had such a heavy accent that I couldn't understand half of what he was saying to me. When he heard that Comcast was my ISP, he agreed to email me a link to the software I needed and instructions on how to install it, which he did. We downloaded the software patch and installed it on my work computer which is running Windows. 10, 64-bit version. Still no connection. Then I tried using cable and it still didn't work. My IT guy was completely baffled as to why this was happening. He wanted me to bring the printer and my computer to his house for him to look at. I knew in that moment that this Lexmark printer just wasn't going to work - it's over 35 pounds and I'm almost 70. That just couldn't happen, not with my back. I could barely put it on my desktop, let alone drag it to and from someone's house. I've never come across a printer (or peripheral) that had "problems" with specific ISPs, to the point where I've had to take such steps to install a workaround, which in the end still don't worked. I wish I could remember the name of any other affected ISP other than Comcast as this issue needs to be FULLY disclosed BEFORE anyone buys one of these printers and has the disappointing experience of not being able to connect it with or without the additional software. To solve the Problem. This looks like a Lexmark issue, not a Comcast issue - it's not like Comcast is a small regional carrier. I would urge the folks at Lexmark to 1) fix this problem so you don't have to contact tech support for a fix, and 2) fix the problem so it doesn't happen from the start! Because of this unnecessary and unsatisfactory experience, I will never buy a Lexmark product of any kind again.
