I really experienced this carrier yesterday while taking my 14 pound pup on a plane from Detroit to Los Angeles. I was able to tuck her fully into the carrier and use the side pockets to store extra food, a bowl, her leash and extra poop bags. It held them all and was strong enough to be a comfortable backpack while being light and flexible enough to be rocked a bit to fit different locations. Then, for hiking, I could position her and leave the roof open so she could stick her head out and enjoy the easy view. I appreciate that they have a small leash which gives me confidence that she won't be able to jump out if she sees the animal. The straps are comfortable and the bottom is sturdy but not stiff for a pup. Inside it is lined with fleece. I'm so glad I got it and it's held up great while traveling.
