First off I have to say this is an attractive and durable pen holder and if that's EXACTLY what you are looking for I would recommend it. HOWEVER this was unacceptable for my purposes which was to hold craft pens and pencils. Why? (1) Assembly was a pain - no instructions - had to go to Revain and study pictures to figure out how to put it together. (2) I did NOT expect to have to screw the parts together. It wasn't difficult once I figured it out and found a Philips screwdriver, but it was annoying. (3) Due to the top and bottom hole design (top of the base plate), it is difficult to insert the pins straight. The holes on the bottom are shallow and don't really hold anything in place (4) The holes are NOT BIG ENOUGH to even hold a regular pen if it has a cap. They are too small for markers, so only for pencils. it was unsuitable for me.
