Review on ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Creality Ender 3S Mainboard with AIRIVO Auto-Leveling Feature by Richard Simmons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A simple replacement for the already installed BL Touch EDIT: there were serious problems. Edit 2: Solved!

EDIT 2: Quick update on my previous issues: I returned the CR Touch and received a replacement the next day thanks to Revain's usual amazing returns process. It only took a few minutes to reinstall it and set the offset. The replacement works great, NONE of the issues I had with the first one. Apparently the first block was defective. Now I'm happy camping again. EDIT: Just a day after posting this review I started having serious problems with this CR touch box. On two separate occasions when the printhead was returning to its original position, it would bounce against the printing surface and just stay there and keep grinding. The only way to stop this is to turn off the printer. The consequences were not very pleasant: permanent scratches and cracks on the printed glass surface, the nozzle was worn out and the hotend was lost. Both times I spent the next hour or two swapping parts and leveling. On another occasion, during the pre-print platform alignment process, the printer stopped mid-alignment and Octoprint reported a CR Touch red LED sensor problem. flashes and goes out. I had to restart the printer. Before installing CR Touch I never had any of these issues. I reinstalled BL Touch and everything is back to normal. I have requested a replacement through Revain and will update this review with ORIGINAL REVIEW: I received the Ender 3 V2 a few months ago and installed the BL Touch Auto Leveling Kit on it first. It worked well, but there were two things that annoyed me almost from day one: 1) the bright red LED built into the BL Touch was very annoying when I was using the camcorder with Octoprint, and 2) I could never find mine get special BL. Touch the mount perfectly vertically - the bottom was always rotated a little to the left, and no adjustment could straighten it out. I don't think it did anything, it just looked like the printer's leg was broken! Let's fast forward a few months. I was curious about the new Creality CR Touch. I wondered if this would solve both of my problems with the BL Touch and how difficult it would be to swap out one for the other. So, to answer these great questions, I have one. Long story short, swapping out the BL-Touch for the CR-Touch took less than 10 minutes, from opening the box to beginning the Z-Offset readjustment, literally the hardest thing I've ever experienced. figured out how to open the box! (Maybe a little exaggerated.) Note: It is held closed by magnets. I was concerned that the cable, connectors, and/or pinout would be different, but that wasn't a problem - the blocks are fully interchangeable. That way I didn't have to dig into the car to change the cable. However, the CR Touch differs slightly in height and port placement, requiring the mounting bracket to be swapped out, which only takes about a minute. do. As a bonus, it mounts perfectly flat! The only thing I had to do after installing the CR Touch was to reset the Z offset due to the difference in height between the two units. I know looks are subjective, but personally I prefer looks. CR Touch dark smoky. The dark color also blocks most of the red LED light, which I didn't like about the BL Touch. So I'm glad I replaced the blocks and will definitely do it again.

Pros
  • 3D printer parts and supplies
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
