Emerson CF905VNB Review

I've added/replaced many fans over the years. This was my first time buying an Emerson brand fan and overall it was pretty easy to install. The ceiling mount was large, strong, and secure, leaving room for cables without much fiddling. Everything went like clockwork and I had no problems. It should be noted that the fan can only be controlled with the wall switch. I may have overlooked this detail prior to purchase, but be aware that the fan does not come with a pull chain (although the lighting kit did have one). So if you don't want your fan running at full speed all the time, be prepared to install the 4-position switch that comes with the fan. Second note: the switch requires a rocker cover, which also comes with a fan. However, I had a 3-way box with traditional shifters, so I had to buy two rocker switches and a new 3-way plate to match the shape of the 4-way shifter. Nothing fancy, but be prepared if you have anything other than a bandit fan box. The only reason I didn't give the fan 5 stars was because it hums. It was well balanced, but I hate fans that hum no matter how quiet they sound. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the loudest noise, the hum is around a 2-3. So not too loud, but annoying enough.
