thought i need this tool for honda xr650l to check engine compression. It screws onto the end of my compression gauge hose. It worked, but the front exhaust valve has an automatic decompression device on the cam. So what I assumed was a leaking exhaust valve had to be leaking to start the engine. As soon as it starts and reaches a certain speed, the decompression devices take effect. This melted the piston, which led to heavy exhaust smoke.
