I previously installed 3/4 round rods by building a jig and using a drill press to countersink holes in wood. It's hard and easy to screw up. I saw these and decided to try them as it turned out to be easier. To be honest I don't think they ever saved me. Your location must be perfect. It's hard to get them all the way down. The fit of the balusters on these adapters is too tight. I had to use ratchet straps to hold the rails together. Then they were pounded into a fully seated position with a 3-pound mallet and a block of wood. If I build more stages this way, I go back to the jig and drill press.
