All I have to say is WOW!We recently bought a house that had an already installed garage door opener in it. My guess is that before the previous owners put the house on the market, the garage door opener in the house was broken so they replaced it with a cheap Guardian garage door open. The Guardian garage door opener worked fine with the wired wall push button and the wired sensors and it was quiet, but the remotes were horrible. I'd have to hit the button on the remotes multiple times, try at all kinds of crazy angles, and be very close to the garage door for it to open. When we added LED light bulbs to both the garage door opener itself and to the garage ceiling lights, it just made the problem worse. My HomeLink buttons on both of my cars were even worse and they rarely worked so it required that I carry the remotes in the cars. At least the remotes sometimes worked. Additional the Guardian remotes didn't seem to use rolling codes, so it also became a security concern. Very annoying and frustrating.Since the garage door opener itself worked fine and the opener was quite, I hated to replace the whole garage door opener just to fix the remote range issues. After some searching I finally found this item. I decided to purchase it and give it a try. When it arrived, instead of installing it in the traditional location next to the garage door opener, I decided to run some additional wires and installed the unit at the front of the garage right above the closed garage door. I figured this would give me two advantages:1) Extend the range by a few feet (ended up not really needing the extended range as the range is incredible)2) Get the unit away from the LED light bulbs that might causing interferenceAfter finishing the install, I tested and everything worked great. I programmed the HomeLink buttons on my cars (which confirmed this unit uses rolling codes) drove down the street, and confirmed that I can now open the door down the block with the first push of the button. We even got so crazy to try it about 2 blocks away when we couldn't even yet see the house and it still worked! The range is crazy good.Overall very satisfied. I don't leave many reviews but when something works as well as this unit, I feel compelled to leave a good review. One note about my installation method - be careful if you do install this way at the front of the garage above the closed garage door . When you have to hit the learn button to program remotes, the garage door is right underneath and could potentially open when programming the remotes. You also have to the garage door closed to hit the learn button. A bit of inconvenience for installing this way, but the range and reliability gained by moving it away from the LED light bulbs is well worth the inconvenience, especially since you only have to program remotes once in a blue moon.
