I was concerned by some of the bad reviews on this product so I wanted to give my two cents. I haven't had a bad smell from my device and I've had no trouble moving it around in the trunk, but I always have a compartment full, which may be why. It feels sturdy, it's a plastic/cloth construction so it's not "hard" but to keep my son's diapers and wipes from rolling around in the trunk, and a free compartment for frequent grocery trips works for me .
