The unit I received appears to be brand new (unopened packaging and everything in the box) but looks very old and may have been in stock for a few years. The product feels very solid, metal or heavy plastic, the buttons look and feel very good, looks like you would find it in a data center rather than a home office. This is definitely a niche product, few people need it. KVM switch nowadays. I am one of them, and even among them I can be an extreme case. Here's what I have: General I/O devices: - Hermes E1A gaming keyboard (not because it's gaming, but because the feel and sound evoke nostalgic memories of a bygone era) - works great via the USB port of the Keyboard, can be switched between inputs with hotkeys; - Wireless mouse (Onn brand, seems to be from Walmart) - does not work with front or rear USB input, mouse or USB port; later you can try another wireless mouse/powered USB hub; - Unknown brand wired mouse - works fine via rear USB; - HP LV2311 monitor - works well at 1080p. Linux Mint (GTX 780Ti over DVI - I know, is deprecated for 2020, but good enough for Cities Skylines, Transport Fever, etc.) - no problem; - Dell Latitude laptop with Windows 10 via docking station - no problem, drivers for KVM, mouse and keyboard installed on first boot and everything was fine from then on; - Lenovo T480s Linux Mint, via dock, with 3 monitor setup (so one monitor is controlled via DVI KVM, 2 others are permanently connected via dock to VGA and HDMI) - minor issues, resolution/monitor placement had to be adjusted but was fixed eventually able to get it to work); - Old Windows 7 desktop, dual monitor setup (mainly for streaming) - couldn't get it to work. It's stuck on "Starting Windows" on boot, I have to turn it off (and then do a reboot recovery sequence). When I connect video to DVI KVM and connect KB and mouse directly to USB it works fine but as soon as I connect USB from KVM it becomes unresponsive and when I reboot it hangs on boot again. I'll try to play around with the drivers but for now I can just plug in a separate KB/mouse or bite the bullet and eventually replace that thing with Roku, I don't use that box for anything else anymore. All in all, I'd give it a 4 out of 5 for compatibility (which means I'm an edge case) - and keep my old VGA KVM around. UPDATE 2 weeks: I installed drivers for Windows 7 (plugged into KVM while the machine was running and installing drivers) and now KVM mostly works with it (hangs at boot at times). I also found another wireless mouse (Logiteck M185) that works well with KVM. .
