DOA; returned for refund

I don't know what the chances are but I was hoping I'd get a good one. I will try another provider and hope for the best. Hit and miss these things, sure. Production quality control is marginal at best. For those interested in details, I already have a couple of formatted, known good M.2 SATA SSDs (Samsung 850 EVO 120GB M.2 3.5" SSD (MZ-N5E120BW) and Transcend info. SSD M.2 SSD 512GB SATA III 6Gb/s MTS400 42mm M.2 (TS512GMTS400). This case didn't work with any of them (this is on a Macbook Pro with USB 3.0 ports). Works fine in other cases. I also used a known good cable to rule out that possibility, and swapped out cables and SSDs a few times to minimize the chance of a bad connection. I noticed what looked like sloppy (too strong) solder on each end. M.2 connector. And at one point my Macbook was complaining about overcurrent on the USB Plug it in and turn it off (it came back fine when I pulled the case off) The ASMedia controller showed up on the USB bus as shown in the system report under "About This Mac" but I never saw a floppy drive . I had e really hoped this would work. I've enjoyed other StarTech products I've purchased in the past and will continue to try them (at least for a while). I'm sure a certain percentage of those cases are fine, but mine isn't. This is a data point; I haven't had three strikes with StarTech yet.
