Review on Gizmo Dorks 1.75mm Filament Printers: Additive Manufacturing Products for 3D Printing Supplies by Josh Allen

Very hard pressure. - Additive Manufacturing Products

Good thing: It's wood - literally wood-filled plastic. The resulting prints have some of the properties of wood, which is great. I've seen complaints of weakness, but that's to be expected with any filler not added specifically for strength. Taking into account the shortcomings, it produces very good prints that have met my expectations. Disadvantages: Adhesion of the first layer requires some effort. Even with my very good build bed material, it took a few tries at a platform temperature of 70°C - I think the manufacturer recommends 100°C, but I can't get that high due to the magnetic build platform. I increased the nozzle temp to 225 for the first layer and slowed it down which worked. Squeezes a little more like a paste than other plastics and likes to drip when the nozzle moves - again the manufacturer says to increase the pullback but I increased it to 4mm and there was still quite a bit of dripping/stretching . Ugliness: Very difficult to print on due to the filler. Possibly the toughest I've ever dealt with, including TPU and a few other filled materials. Extrusion is uneven, insufficient extrusion for a few seconds, then overcompensating with increased pressure and explosive treatment of the print with additional material. A little slowdown seems to help. This is probably because others have complained of clogging - hasn't happened to me with a 0.4mm nozzle, but it seems to have problems with jamming. I would definitely recommend nothing less than that. Bigger nozzles can help. TLDR? My suggestions: 1. Increase the pullback distance over what you would normally do for PLA.2. There is a heated bed.3. Increase the temperature of the first layer.4. If possible, print outside the perimeter last and hope for a smooth flow.5. Have a nozzle of at least 0.4mm (higher is probably better). Much luck!

Pros
  • Wood 3D printer filament vacuum packed and sealed with desiccant
Cons
  • Some bugs
