Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerful Rust Remover Soak by WD-40 - One Gallon [4-Pack] - Eliminate Rust Efficiently! by Willie Midkiff

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Hard fight against rust face to face and winner.

I rebuild tools and use different methods and materials to remove or remove rust - I recently had a head to head comparison between a 1 gallon WD rust remover and its competitor Evaporust, also a gallon jug, performed. I used the same pots (3 sizes, 6 total), selected parts and tools with different amounts of rust, and selected the same amount of each type for each cleaner. The WD isn't worth the extra $5 in my opinion as the Evaporust was faster, more efficient and obviously more fuel efficient. WD never seemed to pick up steam and finish the job. I'm trying to 'use' it after a test and I've just taken out a couple of sockets that have been in it for a week and it still has active rust in it! I took them straight to Evaporust and dropped them there. In a day or two they will be clean and ready for storage. I simply used a delta sander and put all the hardware and small parts in the Evaporust to remove some surface rust, it also removed the blueing. It's not a problem for me as I'll just repaint them, but it gets rid of all the rust. I still like the WD 40 spray (I buy it by the gallon) for long term storage in containers and their new silicone spray is my personal shop spray - es or dry teflon - and I've tried their new degreaser which is good for lightweight is spraying and soaking; However, when it comes to rust, in my shop it will still be Evaporust in a multi-gallon container.
