Review on πŸš— 12V Automotive Smoke Tester RTRHINOTUNING - Leak Detector & Diagnostic Tool for Vacuum Leak Detection – Smoke Generator Machine by Dewitt Bhattacharya

Works great, see below. Failed after a few hours.

Follow up_ After a few hours of operation, smoke came out of the oil tank and the smoke pump stopped generating any pressure at all, so effective it couldn't force smoke into the vacuum system air duct system. I tried blowing it back and the small obstacle exploded where it came from, but the pump still didn't produce any real flow. Even added butter to see if it was somehow empty. No, it doesn't work anymore. Fortunately, his Amazon return only took about 3 hours. . I used Marsky's alternative method, although it works just as well or even better. Adjust the air compressor tank to 2 psi, block the mass air flow tube in the same manner as for the smoke, and use an air press and soapy water in the sprayer. You can hear air leaks, move lines to hear noise changes, spot spray solution to see bubbles and hear gurgling. Even more leaks than smoke were found as the air pump was very weak. Maybe the smoke could work just as well or even better if it was on b2psi too. but I didn't have time to try the more crash-prone machines. I already have an air tank and soapy water in the shop and it's working great. You just have to be quiet. Hope this update helps. I've been a mechanic for 30 years and can't believe I've never used one of these b4's. I just did a major engine upgrade on a Porsche 996 Turbo and the tuning indicated a vacuum/boost leak. I've pressure tested the entire system to no avail. The tuner then suggested a smoke machine. I had no idea how well that would work. There must be a fully charged battery in order for smoke (high temperature) and volume (air injection) to penetrate the entire system. The porch is unique in that there are approximately 10ft 2.5in air ducts for the turbo and intercoolers, all embedded in the rear of the car with little to no visible access. The snake machine worked amazingly. I did this at night with a bright flash in a closed garage with little ventilation so the smoke was as visible as possible. I spent an hour going through all the ducts and had a vent line at the end of the system to ensure the pressurized smoke had access to the entire system. Hope that helps.
