I bought this hoping it would improve the speed of my newly purchased 1Gbps Xfinity service which is running at approx 1 Gbit/s to my gateway but dropped with 400 to 900 Mbit/s in between. gateway and my 1G ethernet network card. The device claims to use version B of the Realtek RLT8125 chip, which is small and seems to work cool. Installing on Windows 10 was easy. Plug it into a 1-lane or more PCIe slot, run the driver installer, and then plug it into another 2.5Gbps Ethernet port (which comes in handy in the latest Comcast Technicolor box ). The bitrate was instantly the highest I've ever gotten from Comcast, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The only caveat to installing it was that the Realtek driver page is mostly in Chinese. So if you don't read them, you'll have to use the browser's translate button. They also have drivers for Linux, Novell, DOS and some other systems. I also installed the drivers for Linux Ubuntu 18. This involved downloading and opening the archive and then running the script in the terminal. It's easy enough once you know what to do and get similar performance. Let's hope Linux gets built-in support in the future. Small additions included a flat mount, a cute little screwdriver with screws, and a gift certificate for a limited number of USB wall chargers. Given its newness, the fact that it's a Rev 2 and the simplicity of the board, it was probably the right buy. Let's see what others experience.
