This is a set of vacuum stoppers with a matching pump. Since some other pumps I've had in the past have tended to seize, I looked at the design and figured this one should be more reliable. It has a smaller diameter pump shaft - 17mm versus the others' 22mm - meaning the same length has less friction and is less prone to sticking at an angle. The stem is also made from a tougher and potentially more durable plastic. The overall design is more elegant than most. Vacuum wine bottle stoppers are a must-have accessory for wine lovers who don't want to throw away a good bottle or who want to drink the whole batch at once and get a nasty hangover. But not all wine corks are created equal. For such a simple concept, so many brands have come up with unreliable, complex, or even completely non-functional [it's you, Rabbit/Metrocan!] ones. You leak, the pump is stuck. These OXO stoppers stay tight for days, have a decent pressure relief valve and work with a very durable OXO pump. I'm sure there are other kits that work very well too. But I bought OXO for my home and for other wine lovers I visit.
