I was having a really hard time shredding my old plastic cutting board when I cut it with a new, very sharp knife. Avoiding plastic particles in food was no fun! The plastic was also quite heavily soiled by some products. The knife still leaves marks on this board, but they are minimal, the material does not come off and there are practically no stains. Also the ability to use cutting oil on the board to maintain it ensures I will be using this board for many years to come.
