I bought these for cycling, either as a lining under my other winter gloves or for cool weather under my summer gloves which I use here. It was an overcast and slightly chilly day in the mid-1950s. (Don't be too harsh, I live in Texas so the 50's are "cold" here). Knitted, they are slightly thicker than other silk glove liners I've used, but thinner than wool or acrylic knit liners. If your outer glove doesn't fit snugly, it should be worn under the crowd to create an extra layer. In the mid-1950s they were almost perfect as riding pads. On first use I noticed a slight unraveling of some knitwear on my fingers. I don't expect silk gloves to be super durable, but when cycling, fingers are often used for braking and shifting. Most other silk interlinings I've used have lasted a few seasons, but only time will ultimately tell how durable they are.
