Destroyed Algae

I put this in my garden hopper to remove chlorine from the water. I don't have a chlorine test but I saw all the slimy algae gone leaving crystal clear water. That means it's at least picked up all the fertilizer from the water (and I'm guessing the chlorine, too). For this reason you should not put it directly into the planter. I added it separately but quickly found that an aquarium mesh bag would be better for easier replacement next year. I will next time. For my purposes this was easier than a standard charcoal filter and tube as it would easily clog even dirty buckets. If my hose connection was closer I could connect a regular filter to it, or maybe a sediment filter and then a charcoal filter.

Pros
  • handy item
Cons
  • no.
