Pure water is best in filter accessories

This material works very well. I have a little problem with seaweed and thought this might help. It has helped some but hasn't completely eliminated my algae.

Pros
  • Trial period for one year
Cons
  • Appearance

Works well - filter accessory

I add this charcoal to my turtle filter but you have to run water through it to remove the charcoal dust. They are excellent at removing odors and keeping the water clean. I don't know why the other reviews weren't positive. Very simple and effective.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • So far so good

Maybe it's good for you, I don't like it.

This product is so light it tends to float in the reactor. This medium is constantly floating in a blob on top of the reactor where I have to turn off the water flow to let it calm down and then turn the flow back on. I will not buy this product again.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Fits

What is pictured is not what you are buying

Total plagiarism! One of the dustiest coals I've ever bought and if you're expecting it in a bucket as pictured, this isn't what you're getting. For the price you pay for this coal, it is absolutely not worth it. You can get the same quantity and quality for 12.99 Marineland Carbon.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons

Do not repurchase/reorder this product

For the price, value for money should be higher, have a large amount of dust and residue, and very fine grains, must use fine media bags, too after rinsing twice, it remains "dirty". It may work better than pellets, but after using this product we will go back to charcoal pellets. Wouldn't buy again.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability of testers
Cons
  • Weight

Very disappointed, best for fish and aquatic animals

I was expecting subtle power from the activated charcoal, which is to be expected, but what I wasn't expecting was a mostly dusty bottle. What I could use of activated charcoal was half a bottle, and the amount I could use took a long time to wash off the excess power. nope I will not buy this brand again.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Almost OK

Won't wash out: Aquarium Pumps and Filters

I purchased this charcoal for use in my 60 gallon aquarium. I used an existing carbon mesh bag I had from a previous Fluval purchase. I spent 10 minutes washing this charcoal and finally came to terms with the fact that it won't wash. Otherwise I can say that I am satisfied. The water has been clear for the last 10 days but I don't know if I would buy this item again.

  • Best
Cons

Destroyed Algae

I put this in my garden hopper to remove chlorine from the water. I don't have a chlorine test but I saw all the slimy algae gone leaving crystal clear water. That means it's at least picked up all the fertilizer from the water (and I'm guessing the chlorine, too). For this reason you should not put it directly into the planter. I added it separately but quickly found that an aquarium mesh bag would be better for easier replacement next year. I will next time. For my purposes this was easier…

Pros
  • handy item
Cons
  • no.
