Review on 🚚 Enhanced Truck Tailgate Assist by DEE ZEE (Model DZ43301) by Maurice Branch

Was hoping it would work. But that's not the case. (2016 ram 1500 big horn 4x4) installed it exactly as instructed (and also after watching a few videos on youtube) and the wiring from the tailgate is interfering with the shock absorber itself and snagging/hanging on the tailgate when closing . Even with the tailgate open, it remains stuck until the weight of the door literally pulls it from its fixed position. Right after installing it I tried to close it and got an error. I thought I did something wrong and tried to align it accordingly, but it still wouldn't close. I removed it from the truck immediately after almost destroying the tailgate wire trying to install a plastic/rubber barrier that didn't fit. No matter how much I wanted to mess up my wire brace (sarcasm), I couldn't put it on. So I said it's not worth damaging a few components on my truck to use that tailgate strut (which will probably break in a few months anyway). This item cannot be returned through Amazon. However, since I'm a primary member (I pay for it), Amazon Chat Support gave me a full refund to my payment method. Good thing Amazon has great customer support and it kills it! Otherwise it would be a waste of $20. Not to mention the hour it took me from start to finish to realize it wasn't going to work. All the great reviews on here don't do me justice. I listened to them and was very hopeful, but in the end I had to listen to my intuition and not believe it. Well you live and learn. Now I have an article that just goes to the trash. I'm not happy about this at all, but, hey, if it causes a shock that destroys other parts of my tailgate or the functionality of my tailgate, I'll go with functionality, manual operation, and closing the door every time. From one truck lover to another - buyers beware. You may not be as lucky as me if you get a loan into my account.
