This wonderful adapter simplifies the hardware needed to connect ESP8266 ESP-01 with Arduino UNO or Arduino Mega and maybe use others. Simply connect the ESP-01 chip to this adapter and then connect the adapter to your breadboard. Connect the 5V VCC, GND, RX, and TX wires from the Arduino. This little adapter takes care of all the 5V and 3.3V conversions needed between Arduino and ESP-01 as they connect to the VCC, RX and TX wires! On the Arduino Uno, I connected the adapter's TX pin to the Arduino Uno's RX pin. 2 and pin RX of the adapter to pin 3 of the Arduino Uno TX and modified my sketch accordingly. On the Arduino Mega, I connected the adapter's TX pin to Arduino Mega's RX pin 11 and the adapter's RX pin to Arduino Mega's TX pin 9, and modified my sketch accordingly. I bought 4 of these adapters and all 4 worked. no problem.
