Easier to replace than I expected, fixed my P0031 errors right away and maybe even helped with shifting? Listen to me, I bought my 2004 XT from my mechanic who got it as a "mechanic special" from a customer with 230,000 freeway miles. It always had a hard (clunky) shift between 2nd and 3rd, even though I paid to have the gearbox overhauled at a separate shop. I believe that in the 3 years that I've owned it, the 02 front sensor has been in a near-failure state, resulting in the ECU and TCU not easily "matching" a good shift pattern. Of late the car has started throwing P0031 (and various other related codes) constantly and going into relearn mode on every drive, much to my annoyance when you stall an automatic turbocharged fuel injected car trying to get out of one Grocery store to come out. With the pandemic still raging I haven't ridden much, but the 30 minute job of replacing the sensor seems to have cured all my faults, improved acceleration and response, and maybe even smoothed out the shift pattern. .BTW RockAuto agrees that this sensor is suitable.
